DESCRIPTION:

The Tayrona National Park is located in the Atlantic Coast (North of Colombia), 34 km. towards the northeast of the historic city of Santa Marta. The landscape is covered by huge white rocks breaking the waves of the Caribbean Sea and by cobbled paths which climb until the vestiges of the Tayrona culture, the prehispanic inhabitants of this region.

Bays, beaches, mangrove swamps, coral reefs, fish, mollusks and seaweeds share this magnificent place with hills, woods, bushes, more than 100 species of mammals, 200 species of birds, 50 species of reptiles and several archeological ruins of the Tayrona culture which is one of the most interesting prehispanic ethnic groups of Colombia.

This great variety of fauna and flora is due to the 12.000 land hectares and the 3.000 marine hectares which spread out form the sea level until 900 m of height, allowing the development of different land and marine ecosystems.

Temperature: from 25º C to 30º C.

Climate: warm to hot.
