Casa Schumacher is a luxurious, 5-bedroom colonial townhouse inside the historic quarter of Cartagena. The more than 250-year old house has been fully restored to maintain its colonial charm, while adding all the modern conveniences. It is ideal for executives or individuals who want to entertain, work or just relax.

Located on exclusive Calle Don Sancho, Casa Schumacher is near the beautifully restored Teatro Heredia and only about 50 meters from the 400 year-old fortress walls built by the Spaniards to protect the city, a crown jewel of the Spanish empire. On the far side of the ramparts lies the wide, blue expanse of the Caribbean, providing stunning views from the mirador, with its 10-person jacuzzi, or from the balcony in front.

The location, so close to the ocean, is one of the most refreshing in the city. The house, with its front and back patios, royal palms and cascading water fountain, is designed with colonial genius to capture and circulate the sea breezes and cool them even further, in a natural air conditioning. Additionally, every room has Hunter overhead fans and discreetly built-in modern air conditioning, with individual controls.

Each room is uniquely decorated, with its own color scheme, antique furniture, art work, designer fabrics and custom made floors of either Pompeya tiles or coralina stone. Loving details are everywhere.

The house is fully equipped electronically,  with direct access to the internet from most bedrooms, a fax, two televisions, several stereos and a Bose surround sound system in the master bedroom.  The handsome kitchen, too, is fully equipped.   It has a wine cooler, 6-burner steel stove, extractor, microwave, expresso machine, large refrigerator/freezer and a complete range of cooking equipment for preparing the most sophisticated cuisines for two people or large dinner parties.  The colonial dining room table seats 12 and tables and chairs are stored to seat many more in the patio.

The house is served by a well-trained and polite two person staff. She is the housekeeper, does wash and cooks breakfast. He does heavy work, runs errands, serves the table and provides 24-hour security. An excellent optional cook is on standby and can be arranged.
